Sorry About The Mess

A bold announcement to the world that our room’s a mess and we embrace it.  Learning is what happens when your original plan falls through.  Sometimes you look around the room and the cardboard is flying, the experiments are in progress, the pencils are missing, kids are looking for masking tape, a computer just crashed, and the microphone cords are tangled…again.  All this before 9:30 am. But, really, would you have it any other way?  Learning IS messy.  :)

You can click the posters to head to their Flickr page and download ’em if you’d like to print them for your classroom.  Thanks to Scholastic for sharing one of these posters, or confessions so-to-speak, on their Facebook page tonight!  Have fun making a mess tomorrow…. or learning! :)

  1. Learning is messy with all the connections that need to made and the digging that needs to be done. It is not a linear process. I shake my head when I think about my first few years teaching when I tried to make it all neat and linear so it looked good. Looking good is not as important and good learning taking place!

  2. I remembered this post as I was cleaning out dissection trays with toad guts in it and washing off scissors – but it was SO WORTH IT! My students learned and I learned with them which is what teaching and learning is all about.

  3. I love all of your posters! Found you on pinterest and love your blog. I am a little amazed you have time and energy for such great contributions. I am a new Masters of Ed student so seeing your work is inspiring. Thanks!
