After reading Jure Klepic’s post this morning and rewatching Angela Maier’s TED Talk, it’s more crystal clear than ever. Our most important jobs as human beings are not at all the things we spend 99% of our time and energy on. Our most important job is to spend our lives letting others know how much they matter. Our family. Our friends. Our colleagues. Our students. If you’re working hard doing what you know in your soul you were meant to do, why wouldn’t you want that for everyone? None of us have perfect lives. Life is not a competition. None of us want to go through life thinking we’re insignificant. None of us want to wonder if we even matter. What if the first thing on your to-do list every single day was this simple? Let someone else know they matter. Make life less about you and more about them. In person, a tweet, a card in their mailbox, this poster printed and laid on their desk with a note, a smile and a good morning…. tiny gestures that all have one thing in common: Making a big difference. Because, isn’t making a difference what we’re all trying to do in the first place? In Jure’s words, “By lifting others up, we lift ourselves up as well.”
Thank you Angela Maiers and Jure Klepic for sharing your thoughts, words, and inspiration with the world and reminding us all of those two important words “You matter!”
