There are things I know. Kids learn more when they are involved in their learning. Kids get engaged when content becomes meaningful to them. Kids are naturally curious. Kids are individuals with unique needs. Kids amaze us when we get out of their way. Kids can take something we had planned out and move it a whole new, even better direction. Kids are more than a score report. Kids have dreams about their futures, and if they don’t we need to step in.
Not because of reading research. Not because of a report from the government. Not because of test scores, expert analysis from a book, or even a report I saw on news. These are things I know because I know kids.
